Dr Buckley has lectured and written extensively on the area of primary care dermatology and community based dermatology. He has had numerous scientific articles published in various medical journals. Dr Buckley has also lectured on dermatology throughout Ireland, the UK, France, the USA, Kenya and China. Dr Buckley has written and presented on skin related to problems in the local and national newspapers, the local and national radio, including “The Joe Duffy Show” and on national tv, including “The Health Show” and “Nationwide”.

Dr Buckley has also written a book on primary care dermatology. He has produced training DVDs for doctors on cryosurgery, radiosurgery and primary care dermatology. Dr Buckley has carried out original research on the treatment of skin cancer using cryosurgery, the management of skin cancer in primary care, the treatment of plantar warts, and the treatment of ingrown toenails.

Because of Dr Buckley’s training in primary care, he can provide a more holistic approach to his dermatology patients, treating not just their skin but treating the whole person, both physically, mentally and spiritually.

Dr Buckley and his wife, Aine MacGillicuddy, who is a lecturer in Irish, have three children. In addition to running a very busy medical practice and dermatology clinic, Dr Buckley is very involved in the local sailing club where he is currently the Commodore. He races his 33foot yacht (Sigma 33 OOD) and his dinghy (a laser of course) competitively in his local club and up and down the west coast of Ireland. He also ran in the New York, Paris and Dublin city marathons over the last few years. He is also passionate about the Munster and Irish rugby teams, and coaches underage rugby in his local rugby club in Tralee.
